NEWHOUSE MASTER'S PROGRAMS

A message from Joel Kaplan, Associate Dean for Professional Graduate Studies and the Newhouse Graduate Records Office

Newhouse graduate students may choose from 11 professional master's degree programs covering the full gamut of mass communications: advertising; arts journalism; broadcast journalism; documentary film and history; magazine, newspaper, and online journalism; media management; new media; photography; public diplomacy; public relations; and television, radio, and film.

In addition, we also offer an academic master's program in media studies, a doctoral program in mass communications and a distance-learning master's program in communications management.

Newhouse students study with peers of equal academic caliber from around the globe. The Newhouse faculty, equipped with decades of professional experience from every conceivable field, provide students with in- and out-of-classroom guidance. Through it all, students are surrounded by the walls of an institution that has graduated some of the best and the brightest in today's mass media.

Throughout their courses of study, students are exposed to intense classroom study, field experience, and hands-on, real-world project development. Students also have the option of following an academic track leading toward doctoral study or a career in research. Newhouse students carve unique paths of learning during their time in Syracuse. While each finds his or her own voice at Newhouse, graduates share the thread of enormous potential of becoming future leaders in public communications.
