GETTING INVOLVED

Newhouse graduate students enjoy being a part of the larger Syracuse University campus. Founded in 1870, SU currently has 11 schools and colleges with an enrollment of more than 12,000 undergraduate students and 6,000 graduate students. Newhouse grad students have opportunities to get involved with various student organizations, go to intercollegiate athletic events, and attend SU-sponsored guest lectures and performances.

There are numerous opportunities to get involved in campus clubs, organizations and sports. There are more than 300 recognized organizations on campus including student government, Public Relations Students Society of America, The Daily Orange (SU's student-run newspaper) and various intramural sports.

The Daily Orange
Syracuse University's daily newspaper offers opportunities for students to gain experience in print journalism. The DO is a great way for MNO students to build up their clip file for job and internship applications.

Syracuse University radio stations:

WAER
This is a National Public Radio station with a jazz format; it also offers considerable news and sports programming, and it has been the cradle of such sports broadcasters as Bob Costas, Dick Stockton, Mike Tirico, Len Berman, Marv Albert, Ian Eagle, Sean McDonough, and many more.

WJPZ
Z89, The Beat of Syracuse: This station has a popular music format as well as news and sports programming.

WERW
This is Syracuse University's only free-format college radio station. WERW maintains a tradition of college radio by playing a diverse range of genres and is now listenable everywhere on the web.

Orange TV Network
The Orange Television Network is the university wide effort to display the creative and thoughtful work of the students, faculty and staff on the campus of Syracuse University. Distributed and seen on cable television in all campus residence centers, dining halls and some academic buildings, OTN will broadcast on two channels. Channel two will be "Orange Television", the channel where the campus audience will be able to view programming produced by students, faculty and staff as well as programs provided by other universities and producers. Channel ninety-nine will be dedicated to information where viewers will be able to see announcements about important academic deadlines, cultural, recreational and entertainment events as well as other topical information.

Citrus TV is a student-run group that produces television programming. Students gain experience producing news, sports, game shows, dramas and every other type of video entertainment regularly seen on television. Citrus TV shows are seen on the Orange Television Network (channel 2) and the Citrus TV website.
